Wintertime
Look Out! Look Out
Jack Frost is about! He's after our fingers and toes; And, all through the night, The gay little sprite Is working where nobody knows. Winter FaireOur Winter Faire is a parent run-faculty supported festival. This means that the parent committee is able to choose to add components, such as a silent auction or expanded food offerings as the committee sees fit. The committee for Winter Faire will start meeting at the very beginning of the school year to map out the Faire and begin the planning process. More about Winter Faire:
King Winter welcomes children with little snowflake treasures. His warm smile is forever remembered during the cold of winter. You cannot miss King Winter’s long, white, flowing hair, and towering, tall, presence. King Winter carries the sprit of winter on his shoulders to all the children he encounters. The Pocket Lady, another magical friend of Mountain Sage, wanders the Winter Faire grounds in a long mysterious, handcrafted, cloak. Inside the cloak are little pockets filled with treasures for children of all ages. The children flock to The Pocket Lady, and she opens her cloak letting each child choose a gift from her pockets. The Winter Faire also hosts a Fairy Room, giving children an opportunity to find beautiful, one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones. Donated gifts are displayed in a room that is “off limits” to parents so children, with the kind help of fairy workers, can choose and wrap a surprise for a special friend or family member. All Mountain Sage families are asked to create a minimum of twelve gifts to donate to the Winter Faire’s Fairy Room. We hold craft days at school and elsewhere to support the making of treasures and the making of friends.ter Faire, King Winter welcomes children with special |
The Winter Faire
The Winter Faire is one of several all school festivals at Mountain Sage. We come together to welcome the crisp, cold weather of the Winter season, to share in community time, craft making and choosing gifts for loved ones. At Winter Faire you will find King Winter who appears silently, handing a small treasure to each child and just as silently disappears; the kind Pocket Lady who wears a magical cloak with pockets filled with treasures for the children to pick; the Fairy Room where children "shop" with the help of a fairy helper for their special people; a Crystal Cave with food and delicious treats; the Story room where families experience the magic of storytelling; several fun crafts to make and take home and a small marketplace. The Winter Faire is a fundraiser that helps to support several programs at Mountain Sage including festivals, our community garden, after school enrichment and more. Every year each grade will be in charge of a specific aspect of the Winter Faire.
